Description

Narayana Nethralaya is a super specialty eye hospital in Bangalore, having three large centers, first center located centrally at Rajajinagar, second center at Narayana Health City campus on Hosur Road and the third new center located at Castle street, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore. It is currently one of the largest tertiary eye care centers in the state of Karnataka providing an advanced level of eye care.

Narayana Nethralaya was started in the year 1982 as an eye clinic at Srirampuram, Bangalore by our Chairman Dr.K.Bhujang Shetty.

Recognizing the need to provide comprehensive eye care to the ever growing number of patients, while at the same time offering the best in ophthalmic sub-speciality services, Dr.K.Bhujang Shetty established Narayana Nethralaya in 1993. The result of his efforts is what we are today.

We have now expanded to become even bigger and better. Our new eye hospital at Narayana Health City is spread over 120,000 sq.ft, and has separate wings for various specialties and departments, which are fully equipped with state of art diagnostic and therapeutic tools. This hospital proudly lodges a dedicated area for community eye care. This area exclusively caters to the eye care needs of the financially under–privileged, offering them quality eye care at no or subsidized cost, while at all times keeping the dignity of the individual in mind. Paediatric eye health is one of our areas of thrust.

Ocular health is closely related to many systemic diseases like diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, systemic infections and cancer. Our focus on basic and applied research simultaneously with state of the art diagnostics and therapeutics, in conjunction with some of the best minds in the Narayana Health City promises to allow us to make path breaking changes in treatment paradigms in the years to come.

Research expansion is one of our current priorities and we have a dedicated wing to facilitate this endeavor. We are probably one of the few eye centers in the state to have dedicated research facilities. Our focus is on applied research in areas such as Stem cells, Molecular techniques (Polymerase chain reaction), Genetics, Ocular Immunology and infectious diseases.
