A branch of the Ramakrishna Order, The Ramakrishna Mission Seva Pratishthan centres round the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna – “service to Jiva is service to Shiva” (spiritually dedicated service of humanity with utmost reverence is worship of God). Since its humble beginning in 1932 as a maternity hospital, the Seva pratishthan has grown into a 650 bed multi-specialty hospital, a prominent landmark in south Kolkata the major metropolis of eastern India and capital of the state of West Bengal with a strong objective of providing quality health care at a low cost to patients of the socio-economically weaker section and middle class and to provide charity services to deserving persons from even lower socio-economic strata.
